Dispatcher

A Ridge Ambulance dispatcher is the voice of the company and must have a good understanding of customer service and be able to maintain a professional demeanor while answering calls and taking requests.

The dispatcher is responsible for receiving and scheduling emergency and non-emergency requests and utilizing resources appropriately and effectively while ensuring that the right services for the situation have been deployed.  The dispatcher must be able to interact with all departments within the company efficiently and professionally while working independently and as part of the team. 

Job Requirements:  High School Diploma or GED, EMT-Basic License and/or experience preferred but not required.

Medi-Van Operator

A Ridge Ambulance Medi-Van Operator is one of the first line face-to-face interactions our company has with our customers. Our Medi-Van drivers transport patients with multiple different types of disabilities, that may or may not be wheelchair bound but need extra assistance to get to a variety of different medical appointments.

The Medi-Van driver works independently under a supervisor, while being an integrated member of the company’s team atmosphere. The Med-Van Operator provides safe, reliable transportation in a proficient and professional manner, while being able to gather information and communicate appropriately with the customers and patients, along with the dispatch center, billing and maintenance departments.

Minimum Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record, American Heart Association CPR Certification.

EMT-Basic

A Ridge Ambulance EMT-Basic will have the opportunity to work multiple different shifts on either the BLS ambulances or ALS ambulances depending on level of experience.

The EMT-Basic must be able to function as part of a team and independently, while being able to efficiently communicate clearly and professionally with the customers and patients, the dispatch center, billing and maintenance departments. The EMT-Basic is responsible for patient care, charting, professionalism, vehicle care, transportation, and representing the company in a positive, professional manner.

Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, Valid Driver’s License, and clean driving record, Illinois State Issued EMT-Basic License, American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider CPR Certification are required, National Registry EMT-Basic License optional.

EMT-Paramedic / Specialty Care Transport

At Ridge Ambulance our Paramedic positions are unique in that all our EMT-Paramedics are required to be trained and able to perform care at the SCT level (Tier 1). This certification is not required when hired as the education will be provided during the orientation process.

Our SCT Paramedics can transport patients with IV pump infusions and airway management via ventilators. The SCT Paramedic works with an EMT-Basic and can choose from a variety or different shift options. The SCT Paramedic will transport multiple different levels of patients with different needs and treatments and will also assist on Critical Care Transports when requested. The SCT Paramedic must be able to function as part of a team and independently, while being able to communicate clearly and professionally with the customers and patients, along with the dispatch center, billing and maintenance departments. The EMT-Basic is responsible for patient care in emergent and non-emergent situations, charting, professionalism, vehicle care, transportation, and representing the company in a positive, professional manner.

Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, Valid Driver’s License, and clean driving record, Illinois State Issued EMT-Paramedic License, American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider CPR Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or equivalent are required, National Registry EMT-Paramedic optional.

Critical Care Paramedic

At Ridge Ambulance our Critical Care Paramedic positions are also unique positions. Ridge Ambulance entered a pilot program with the State of Illinois in September of 2022. Our Critical Care Paramedics will respond to facilities in their response vehicle which contains all equipment and medications needed for Critical Care Transport. The Critical Care Paramedic will then rendezvous at the sending facility with a Ridge Ambulance that contains a SCT Paramedic and EMT-Basic for the transport.

All Critical Care Transports always have a minimum of 2 attendants in the back with the patient during transport. The Critical Care Paramedic must be able to function independently while leading a team in a high stress situation. The Critical Care Paramedic must be able to perform duties in a cool, calm, collective manner while being professional in all areas of the response. The Critical Care Paramedic must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with the crew, customers, patients, families, sending and receiving facility staff, dispatch center, billing and maintenance departments. The Critical Care Paramedic is responsible for charting, public relations, safety, crew coordination, and patient care. The Critical Care Paramedic is also responsible for real time education with crews and leading by example.

Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, Valid Driver’s License, and clean driving record, Illinois State Issued EMT-Paramedic License, UMBC Critical Care Endorsement, American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider CPR Certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or equivalent, Neonatal Resuscitation Program and a minimum 3-5 years Critical Care Transport experience in ground or flight transport is required. National Registry EMT-Paramedic, IBSC Flight Paramedic-Certified or Critical Care Paramedic - Certified are optional but recommended certifications.
